YM+ European coordination network of young migrants and young people with migrant background
The project aims to facilitate the establishment of a platform representing young migrants and young people with a migrant background at the European level, by bringing together existing initiatives at the local, national and European levels. It will contribute to improving the fundamental rights of young migrants’ and young people with migrant background by making them active players in the design and implementation of European policies.

Project Update March 2011

The year 2011 started with the second capacity building training for YM+ members in February. Its main aim was to strengthen the knowledge and expertise of YM+ members on EU institutions, migration policies and advocacy strategies; for this purpose, intensive training was coupled with visiting EU institutions (EC and EESC). During this training YM+ also took on specific issues (Citizenship, Public Engagement, and Media Discourses) to work on. Apart from working on them, YM+ members have had several opportunities to send a representative to seminars and conferences held in different EU countries (i.e. ‘Forced migrant destitution in EU public conference’ in Brussels and ‘Integration immigrants in regions and cities’ in Valencia).  In order for YM+ to achieve its aims and objectives, and to reach wider audience, they are in the process of developing a website, which will complement the already existing facebook page and YM+ flyer.
