Foundations interested in participating in this new NEF initiative have the flexibility to determine how they wish to engage in it. They may take part in the overall project, or they may only be involved in mounting a Consultation in a Member State, or they may wish to invest in the special grants fund for the award of grants to NGOs. All participating foundations will be expected to contribute to the core costs of the project. All foundations which participate have the right to sit on the Steering Committee which NEF has set up to oversee the coordinated development of the project as a whole and which is chaired by Françoise Pissart of the King Baudouin Foundation.
