The call for proposals for the second phase of EPIM (2008-2011) is now closed: 15 long term (up to 3 years) and short term (up to 18 months) projects have been chosen by an independent jury to receive EPIM support.

The grantees will focus mainly on EPIM priority areas:
- The access to fundamental rights, services and justice for undocumented migrants;
- The involvement of the migrant’s voice in developing and implementing policy;
- The role of media and of the host community in encouraging and supporting integration.

6 Projects will be implemented primarily at the European level, but in coordination with organisations working at national level;
9 Projects will work primarily at the national level, but they have and will strengthen partnerships and networks with similar groups in other member States or at the European level both for implementation and advocacy.

Strategic grant making in critical areas is not the only goal of EPIM which is a programme aiming at strengthening the networking and capacity building of civil society organisations working in the integration field. Moreover, EPIM wish to advocate for the integration of migrants based on a broader approach to integration issues in search of policy coherence vis à vis the European agenda.

Pathways to Parental Leadership

The rapidity of social change in Ireland is such that many schools are grappling with the particular challenges that are posed by new patterns of immigration. How these schools adapt to this changed social context has important implications for the transition of Irish society to a more multicultural state, which values and respects cultural and ethnic diversity in all its forms.  The proposed programme will consider how increased parental participation impacts on school policy, facilitating greater integration of migrant students.   It will consider existing programmes internationally and develop strategies for impacting on policies and procedures within the primary and secondary education system in Ireland.
